Smriti gives Urdu conference a miss

New Delhi: Smirit Irani gave the World Urdu Conference being held at North Campus, Delhi University, a miss but student groups protested regardless.

Krantikari Yuva Sangathan, All India Students' Association and Students' Federation of India had gathered across the road from the Conference Centre where Irani was supposed to inaugurate the conference organised by the National Council for Promotion of Urdu Language. They had come bearing placards on Rohith Vemula, the University of Hyderabad student who committed suicide, and other MHRD policies.

The students believe Irani's decision to not attend was influenced by their protests and stated their intention to gherao her. "Smriti Irani's backing off is a strong and clear message that the movement is on and strong. Smriti Irani and Dattatreya cannot be allowed to function normally after their shameful involvement and unrepentant attitude in the institutional murder of Rohith Vemula," says a statement from AISA.

NCPUL director, Syed Ali Karim-originally from DU's Urdu department-announced at the start that while Irani had "confirmed she was coming, she didn't confirm that she wasn't" and that the organisers will wait.

انتظار حسسیں بھی چلے گئے .ابھی عابد سہیل کے صدمے سے ہماری زبان باہر بھی نہ نکلی تھی کہ انتظار حسین کے جانے کی خبر آ گیی --احمد ندیم قاسمی ،عینی بی .،انتظار حسسیں ،اردو فکشن کا قافلہ آہستہ آھستہ سکڑتا جا رہا ہے .عبدللہ حسسیں بھی چلے گئے .مستنصر حسسیں تارّر بیمار رہتے ہیں .گنتی کے چند ایسے لوگ ، جو انٹرنیشنل ادبی مارکیٹ میں جانے جاتے تھے .اب ایسے لوگوں میں فاروقی صاحب اور نارنگ صاحب کو چھوڑ کر کویی دوسرا اردو ادیب مجھے دور دور تک نظر نہیں آتا .انتظار صاحب کا نام بوکر انعام کے لئے نامزد ہونا اردو کی ادبی تاریخ کے لئے کویئی چھوٹا موٹا واقعہ نہیں ، تاریخ خود کو بار بار نہیں دہرایا کرتی ..اور آگے ایسا ہونے کی امید بھی نظر نہیں آتی .انتظار صاحب کالم نگار ،مضمون نگار ،افسانہ نگار ناول نگار سب کچھ تھے .بحیثیت انسان وہ عمدہ شخصیت کے مالک تھے .انکے افسانوں کو لے کر میرا اختلاف تھا .مگر میں نے کبھی اسکا مظاہرہ نہیں کیا .پنچ تنتر اور الف لیلوی کہانیوں ، داستانوں ،طلسم ہوشربا کی کہانیوں کو حقیقت سے وابستہ کرنا ، اپنے عھد سے جوڑنے میں انھیں مہارت حاصل تھی .مجھے یاد ہے -١٩٨٠ کی دہایی سے قبل انکا جادو کچھ ایسے سر چڑھ کر بول رہا تھا کہ اس وقت کے بیشتر افسانہ نگار انکے انداز اور اسلوب کی نقل کرنے لگے تھے .یہ نقل آج بھی عام ہے .ایسی کامیابی سب کے حصّے میں نہیں آتی .-- تخیل اور داستانوں کو اپنے عہد میں جیتے ہوئے انکی شخصیت بھی داستانی ہو گی تھی . صدمہ اس بات کا ہے کہ انتظار حسسیں کے ساتھ وہ داستان گو بھی رخصت ھوا ،جو اختلاف کے باوجود ساری زندگی ایک ہی روش اور ایک ہی دگر پر قایم رہا ...زندگی کے آخری سفر سے چند ماہ قبل تک وہ داستانوں کی اہمیت ہمیں سمجھاتے رہے .انتظار صاحب اپنے پیچھے ایک ایسا نام چھوڑ گئے ہیں ،جو ہماری فکشن کی عظیم تاریخ سے وابستہ ہے .جب تک ہماری زبان زندہ ہے ،اور د عا ا ہے کہ زندہ رہے ..انتظار صاحب بھی زندہ رہینگے .. اردو کی نیی یا آنے والی نسل انھیں مرنے نہیں دیگی .

I would like to extend my heartiest greetings to all my friends on the occasion of blessed seasonal pilgrimages to Mecca Hajj pilgrimages and the Eid of Sacrifice. It is an ancient tradition going back to Prophet Abraham (pbuh), father of all three Abrahamic faiths, Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. Abraham was willing to sacrifice his son to please and submit to the Will of the Creator and instead sacrificed a lamb that appeared on the spot where he had laid his son for that purpose. Thus started this tradition of sacrificing an animal to show devotion and dedication to the Will of the Creator which is followed all over the Muslim world to this day. The Creator of us all revealed to his last prophet Muhammad (pbuh) almost a thousand and a half years ago that neither the blood nor the meat of the animal reaches the Creator but it is the piety, charity, and the spirit of sacrifice that reaches Him. Yet Muslims have turned this tradition into a commercial enterprise where prices of animals are beyond the reach of poor people and trading of animal hides has become the main focus. The spirit of sacrifice is central to religious experience and a cornerstone of charity. Let us devote ourselves today to the real purpose of this Eid of Sacrifice and celebrate it with love for the fellow human being and not just for the sacrificial lambs.

Today’s Message of Edul-Adha is Peace, Building kind, mutual admiration to respect one another and restore natural environment in the light of Islamic tradition at that time of prophet Ibrahim when Qurbani come into existence God said prophet Ibrahim to do scarifies which is your loved prophet Ibrahim started scarifies to his son Ismail but strategically God made a miracle and provided scapegoat to prophet Ibrahim for scarifies similarly scapegoat became loved for prophet Ibrahim but today money is much more loved instead of Goat for creature.

So that Respected brothers in the name of Qurbani On the occasion of Edul-Adha please distribute money among poor and downtrodden people in our societies and Organize blood donation camp for dengue fever sufferer in the light of humanity this kind of our good work will build a healthy, dispute free and peaceful societies in the world.

This is the call of time our this excellent effort is the high level solution for the protection of our brotherhood which are not only fountain source of patriotism and humanity also top ranking prescription which is supper level asset and better than any religions.
